The KMT mower-conditioners feature a conditioning rotor
equipped with freely rotating steel flails. Arranged in a spiral
around the rotor the flails offer a continuous collection of the
crop from the cutter bar taking it up and over a full width
profiled conditioning plate at the top of the machine. The process
damages the wax layer on the leaves, thus accelerating moisture
loss throughout the swath. Conditioning intensity is varied by
adjusting the spacing between rotor and conditioner plate.
